“Accept—then act.

Whatever the present moment contains, accept it as if you had chosen it.
Always work with it, not against it...this will miraculously transform your whole life.”

~ Eckhart Tolle

This is the quote on the e-mail of our first applicant for the Take the Rose Instead 8 week tele class   She did act, has been approved and having her in the group is a gift. She comes with a commitment to Creative Wise Wellness and a background teaching Conquer Cravings - Reclaim Choice and she is a Brain Gym Consultant!

Texts Following Take the Rose Conference Call

7/29/2014

"Wow Mikell!!! I took part in your program 2 years ago and that was life changing. I didn't think "Take the Rose Instead" could get any better... But tonight, despite the teleconference glitches, you shared so much valuable information  that I can't wait to tell more friends about next week's call! Your sessions are life changers!!! Can't wait to begin the 8 week course. When I think of all the money I have spent on diet programs, this is a much more positive, loving approach. You, and your calls, are a loving gift to me..."

- Lisa Bartoli, Art Therapy Express
Hockessin, Delaware

"Oh, I am SO glad to know it is helping. Lisa, I think self love is the answer. It seems so simplistic, but most weight loss programs are based on self deprivation and self degradation. That just doesn’t work. Once we feel valuable - instead of inferior - everything shifts. If we think we deserve to have beauty in our lives, we begin to think we deserve to have beauty in our bodies. It’s a natural progression. I think you’ll LOVE the rest of the program - I certainly hope so!!!"

Mikell

The evening started off with some frustration with accessing the conference call line, but it all came together and this e-mail from Lisa is so affirming. I can't think of a more perfect "Today's Treasure"! Thank you Lisa!

Nasturtiums from Mycala

7/22/2014

Mycala provided the perfect subject for today's illustrated journal from her herb garden - one of my favorite edible flowers - nasturtium, Tropaeolum majus  They add a peppery flavor and color to salads, similar to watercress, though not from the same family.

It is interesting to note that the latin name for watercress is Nasturtium microphyllum. The word 'nasturtium' comes from the Latin 'nasus torts'.

I highly recommend both the garden nasturtium and watercress, and will happily risk a twisted nose.

Oh, and by the way - the nasturtium in one of the Leo Zodiac herbs! You'll find a few more Leo herbs in the gallery!

My friend Floyd Stokes - author and reading advocate!

Today's treasure is a Facebook post from friend and author Floyd Stokes -

TBT - seconds after Olivia was born July 2008. I decided to post this because earlier this week, someone asked me, “When should I start reading to my baby?” We should start reading to children when they are in the womb. If we missed that, we can always start today. Reading and talking with our new born is one of the greatest gifts we can give them. And it’s so much fun!

Floyd's comment from Facebook -
MIkell, this was taken one day before our release party. It was a crazy good time in my life. You did an amazing job capturing my vision for the book. We are making a difference. I read it yesterday at a summer camp to children in Hburg and they are still in awe of the illustrations.

Lessons from the Mayfly

Baseball season and summer days remind me of the may fly! There were frequently clouds of mayflies at the Senator's games in Harrisburg. I've been told this is a rather glamorized version of the insect but I call it like I see it!
The may fly lives less than 24 hours as an adult, some for only a few minutes.

Life's short! Sparkle!

Lessons from the Mayfly
Transformation while in Motion

The Mayfly reminds us that life is fleeting and precious
and we should live it to the fullest. Embrace adventures
and new opportunities while you grow and transform!
