Course Objective

By the end of this series of workshops, 
participants will be able to list at least five ways to use ORANGE to enhance their lives!

3. Daily Living - Wardrobe, Decorating, Meals
4. Using and Understanding color’s impact on moods
5. Increase awareness of marketing strategies

Topics Include

Advertising - Be aware of advertising. Orange exemplifies innovation and community, fun and creativity. Where and how are you seeing it used?
Art - Find an artist you love who uses orange
Birds - Do you have a favorite orange bird? (Many in Baltimore are partial to the Baltimore Oriole!)
Cartoons and Characters - the nature of the color is the reason it is used for so many fun characters. What are they? 
Chakras - A balanced Sacral chakra increase creativity and keeps reproductive system and sexual organs healthy. An affirmation - "My creativity and energy have the power to transform me."
Dining - All warm colors stimulate appetite. Orange encourages you to eat and run so it is featured in fast food restaurants and hotels and motels where people are on the move. 
Effects of Color - Orange stimulates activity, creativity, encourages socialization, increases joy and enthusiasm and stimulates innovative ideas.

Global Difference - in eastern cultures - happiness and love, American Indians - symbolized intellect, living a good life and ready to fight to the death (war paint)

Insects - Milkweed Bug, Australian Hornet, Orange Moth, Giant Orange Grasshoper
Jade - stimulates energy and joy, teaches consecutiveness of all things
Kryptonite - very rare, untested, stimulates Doomsday, weakens humans, mildly radioactive
Language - Listed several and made one up - "Orange you glad you live in Baltimore?" I am!!!

Religion and Spirituality - Used with reverence by Hindus and Buddhists. We looked at examples. Considered the color of gluttony - from the 7 deadly sins - in Christianity. Can you think of other examples? 
Songs - We listened to two songs - these are different version - so many options.  Orange Crush and Orange Blossom Special. 
Sports - Orioles! And many more!
Super Heros - Captain Citrus, The Thing and the Orange Lantern - and of course Chris Davis from the Orioles!

Symbolism - Orange symbolizes creativity, action and community - it is the PERFECT color for Baltimore!
Totems - orange cat
Why? Why did Oscar the Grouch turn green? He was orange for the first season but then went to Camp Swamp Mushy Muddy and came back green!
